Arcnaut 2003 - 2004

The ARCNAUT Project began in October 2003 following the formation of a research team coordinated by Mario Canali and Gianna Porciani for the RELOAD cultural association.

ARCNAUT was the result of a reflection on the practical and conceptual implications of interactive installations.

It was created out of the need for an in-depth understanding of the possible connections between emerging scientific paradigms and the results and prospects of an art focused on a search for new technological mediums that would allow people to interact with own inner dimensions.

The project is defined by a philosophical orientation in which an artistic vocation and a scientific vision converge through practice and techniques to promote an open debate between the main branches of knowledge.
In order to explore these questions, problems and visions of the interaction between art, techniques and philosophy, researchers, artists, philosophers and scientists with a desire to blend knowledge and skills were brought together in an attempt to define a potential “phenomenology of the future”, by conjuring up scenarios and potential landing places.

This is how the philosophical events began on one side, involving various protagonists on the Italian cultural scene such as Giulio Giorello, Edoardo Boncinelli, Umberto Bottazzini and Paolo Rossi, and projects such as KORAZONE on the other – the first bio-lighting system connected directly to the heartbeat.
